About This Category

Hands-on support built around your loved one's actual routine.

"We don't do everything for them — we do just enough so they can keep doing the things that matter to them."

Serv Home Care, Founder

This is the most common reason families reach out to us: someone they love needs more hands-on help than family alone can provide. Not because they're giving up independence — but because the right support protects independence.

A Serv caregiver moves at your loved one's pace. They explain what they're doing. They respect privacy throughout. They arrive knowing your loved one's preferences, their routines, what they care about.

This category covers the full range of hands-on, in-person support we provide. A few hours in the morning. Overnight coverage. Daily care during a recovery. It adjusts to what the situation actually calls for.

Services in This Category

Four ways we support daily life at home.

Each service below is a full page with more detail on what it includes, who it's right for, and how it pairs with other support. Most families combine two or more.

Most Requested

In-Home Personal Care

The foundation of daily dignified living. Our caregivers help with the hands-on moments that carry the most risk, and the most emotional weight for families watching from the sideline. Done right, personal care doesn't feel clinical. It feels like having someone steady in the room.

  • Bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene, done with privacy and patience
  • Dressing and safe clothing changes
  • Toileting and continence support
  • Safe transfers and ambulation
  • Meal preparation and hydration reminders
  • Medication reminders (non-administration)

Care in Senior Living & Assisted Living Communities

When your loved one lives in a senior community, the facility handles a lot. But the gaps still add up. One-on-one support from a Serv caregiver fills those gaps with familiar, consistent attention that community staff simply can't provide at the same level.

  • One-on-one personal care and mobility support
  • Accompaniment to meals, activities, and on-site appointments
  • Regular communication and updates with family members
  • Help settling in after a move, rehab discharge, or hospitalization

24-Hour & Overnight Care

Some families need more than daytime visits. Some families need more than daytime visits. Maybe your loved one isn't safe alone at night. Maybe care needs run around the clock. Or maybe you just need to sleep. Our overnight and 24-hour care means someone is always there, and that weight is off you.

  • Caregiver shifts for continuous, uninterrupted coverage
  • Overnight monitoring, reassurance, and assistance
  • Help with night routines, bathroom trips, and mobility
  • Added peace of mind for family members

Post-Hospital Transition Support

The first days home after a hospital stay are the highest-risk period for setbacks and readmission. Our post-hospital support bridges that gap. Keeping your loved one safe, nourished, and on track while they regain strength at home.

  • Help with daily routines and personal care during recovery
  • Meal preparation and nutrition support
  • Mobility assistance and fall awareness
  • Observation and family communication
  • Coordination with discharge instructions (non-medical)
Is This Right for Your Family?

Signs it may be time for personal care support.

Most families wait longer than they should. They tell themselves it's not that bad yet, or that they don't want to intrude on their loved one's independence. The right support actually protects independence. It doesn't take it away.

If any of these sound familiar, a conversation with our care team is worth having. No obligation. Just clarity.

Talk With Our Care Team

Near-falls or bathroom close calls

You've noticed bruises, or they've mentioned "almost falling" but downplayed it.

Hygiene being skipped or avoided

Bathing, grooming, or changing clothes has become inconsistent — often a sign it's become too difficult alone.

Family carrying more than they admit

You've quietly taken on bathing, dressing, or overnight checks — and it's affecting your own health or relationships.

Discharge from hospital or rehab

Going home after a hospital stay often requires more support than family can provide during the recovery window.

You want to plan before it becomes urgent

Proactive families often start with a few hours a week. It's easier on everyone when care is introduced gradually.

Our Process

How care with Serv actually begins.

Here is what actually happens between your first call and your loved one having a caregiver in their home.

01

You start the conversation

Tell us what's happening at home — what you're worried about, what a good day looks like now, and what you'd hope it could look like again. We listen first.

02

We build a plan together

One of our Operating Directors meets with your family in person to understand your loved one's routines, preferences, and specific needs. Then we design a care plan around them.

03

We match your caregiver

Not a random assignment. We match by personality, care needs, and schedule and then introduce the caregiver before care begins so everyone is comfortable.

04

We adjust as you go

Needs change. Our care team checks in regularly and updates the plan as your situation evolves. You always have a real person to call.

In most cases, care can begin within 24 hours of your initial consultation. Learn more about our process →

Common Combinations

Services families often add alongside personal care.

Most care plans combine two or three services. Here's what pairs naturally with daily living support — and why.

Companionship & Social Engagement

Personal care covers the physical. Companionship covers the emotional. Both together mean your loved one has support across the full day.

Respite Care

When family members also provide care at home, adding scheduled respite means your loved one has consistent care even when you need real time away.

Light Housekeeping Support

A clean, organized home makes personal care safer and easier. Many families add housekeeping alongside morning or evening personal care visits.

Questions About This Category

What families ask before they're ready to ask.

These are the questions we hear most often from families exploring personal care for the first time.

Consistency is one of the most important things we provide — especially for personal care, where trust and familiarity matter deeply. We prioritize keeping the same caregiver whenever possible. When schedules change or a backup is needed, we communicate clearly and always introduce any new caregiver before they begin.
This is very common — and completely understandable. Accepting help can feel like a loss of independence. We move slowly, introduce caregivers gently, and start with small, low-stakes tasks so trust can build naturally over time. Many families find that within a few visits, their loved one is genuinely glad someone is there.
No — and it's an important distinction. Serv Home Care provides non-medical support. We do not administer medications, perform wound care, or provide nursing services. What we do provide is the hands-on daily support that keeps your loved one safe, comfortable, and functioning at home. If medical care is also involved, we work alongside those providers without overlap.
Yes, and many families do. Starting small lets everyone get comfortable — your loved one, the caregiver, and your family. Hours can be increased as needs change or as trust builds. There's no pressure to start at a level that feels like too much.
Most families do combine services. A common plan might include morning personal care plus companionship in the afternoon, or personal care with overnight monitoring and light housekeeping. We build the combination around your loved one's actual day — not a preset package.

Tell us what's going on. We'll listen, ask a few questions, and help you figure out what would actually help. Most families say the first call alone made things feel clearer.
