Memory & Specialized Care

Some situations don't fit a standard care category.

Multiple diagnoses. A condition that's less common. Needs that don't fit neatly into the usual services. Specialized care is how we handle situations that require more than a standard approach — additional training, closer coordination, and caregivers who adapt when things are complicated.

About This Service

What specialized care actually means.

Specialized care isn't a single defined service — it's how we describe situations that need something beyond standard personal care or companionship. A client with both Parkinson's and dementia. Someone with ALS or MS who has specific physical care requirements. A person managing multiple chronic conditions simultaneously whose needs are medically complex even if our care is non-medical.

For these situations, we assign caregivers with relevant additional training, involve our Operating Directors more closely, communicate more frequently with family and clinical providers, and build care plans with more specificity and more flexibility. The plan gets revisited more often because the situation changes more often.

We'll be honest about what we can and can't support. If a situation exceeds the scope of non-medical care, we'll tell you — and help you find appropriate clinical resources.

Is This Right for Your Family?

When families reach out about specialized care.

Specialized care is the right conversation when standard categories don't quite fit.

Your loved one has multiple diagnoses that interact with each other

Dementia plus Parkinson's. Stroke plus diabetes. When conditions compound, care needs to account for the interactions.

The condition is progressing faster than expected

Standard care plans sometimes can't keep up with rapid change. Specialized care builds in more flexibility and more frequent reassessment.

Previous care arrangements haven't worked well

If you've had caregivers who weren't equipped for the situation, you need someone with more relevant experience and better oversight.

The condition is less common and you're not sure what to ask for

We've supported clients with a wide range of diagnoses. If you're not sure what kind of care makes sense, we'll help you figure it out.

Clinical providers have recommended in-home support but haven't specified what

We can translate a clinical recommendation into a practical care plan that fits what your loved one actually needs day to day.

You need more coordination and communication than standard care provides

When situations are complex, you need a team that communicates proactively — not one that waits to be asked.

Complex situations deserve a careful conversation, not a quick answer. Tell us what's going on and we'll be honest about what we can provide and what the best path forward looks like.

Our Process

What happens between your first call and care beginning.

Here is what actually happens between your first call and your loved one having a caregiver in their home.

01

You start the conversation

Tell us what's happening at home. What you're worried about. What a good day looks like now, and what you'd hope it could look like again. We listen first.

02

We meet in person

One of our Operating Directors comes to you. We learn your loved one's routines, preferences, and what matters to them. Then we design a care plan around that — not a template.

03

We match your caregiver

We match by fit — personality, experience, and schedule — and then introduce the caregiver before care begins. No one starts until everyone is comfortable.

04

We stay involved

Needs change. We check in regularly and adjust the plan as your situation evolves. You always have a real person to call — not a scheduling system.

In most cases, care can begin within 24 hours of your consultation. Learn more about how it works →

Common Questions

What families ask about specialized care.

Questions that come up often when care needs are complex.

We assess based on the combination of conditions, the specific care requirements, and whether standard caregiver training is sufficient. If a situation needs more, we say so and build the plan accordingly.
We'll tell you — clearly and as early as we can see it coming. We'll help you identify appropriate clinical resources and, where possible, continue providing non-medical support alongside those services.
Yes, in many cases. The specifics depend on the stage of the condition and what the care requires. We'll assess the situation and be honest about what we can safely and effectively provide.
More frequently than with standard care. For complex situations, we review the plan regularly and proactively — not just when something goes wrong.
Yes — most families do. Starting with a few visits a week lets everyone get comfortable before expanding. There's no pressure to commit to more than makes sense right now.
Consistency is a priority. We do everything we can to keep the same caregiver in place. When schedules change or backup is needed, we communicate clearly — your loved one always knows who's coming before they arrive.
